The fourth of six children, Pete was a hard worker. He drove a school bus at the age of 16 while in high school. At the age of 18, prior to completing his education, he joined the Navy. After three years of dedicated service, he returned to his home in Sudan, TX, where he earned his high school diploma. He then became certified as a computer technician and moved to Dallas to enjoy a career with Western Union, GTE, and ConTel. There, he met the love of his life, Gay Evangeline Rush and they were married in May of 1969. They were blessed to have 41 years together. As newlyweds, they began worshiping at Northside Church of Christ, the predecessor to Riverside Church of Christ. Pete and Gay were founding members of Riverside and devoted both time and tithe to its success. Pete also took great pleasure in volunteering for the Butterfly School and found meaning and purpose in serving God through the church and the school. To further continue the work of the Lord, Pete spent the last 8 years of his life as an active member of Gideons International, the group that provides Bibles to people around the world.
